Berlin is in intensive talks with the European Commission over a planned bailout for flagship German carrier Lufthansa, a government spokesman said on Friday.

"They are continuing," Steffen Seibert told a news conference, referring to the discussions with antitrust officials.

A spokeswoman for the Economy Ministry declined to comment on the content of the talks with the European Commission.

The German airline's supervisory board this week refused to accept the conditions that Brussels attached to a $10 billion government bailout.
