Time is no longer on Boris Johnson's side and as a result the odds of a 2020 General Election, rather than 2019, have plummeted overnight from 5/4 to 8/11.

'Clearly Mr Johnson is facing a race against time to firstly get a deal and then to see it agreed by Saturday,' said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. 'As a result our political punters think that the Prime Minister will be compelled to ask the EU for an extension, therefore reducing the chances of a 2019 General Election.'

William Hill are now 9/2 (18%) that the UK leaves the EU with no deal on or before 31st October.
