The police, on Wednesday, arraigned five security guards in a Grade I Area Court in Mpape, Abuja, for allegedly vandalising a Honda car and stealing N580, 000.

The defendants, Prince Odujimi, Okyive Grace, Sani Salifu, Faith Moses and Sunday Edife, were staff of Hallogen security outfit.

They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, negligence of conduct, mischief and theft.

The Prosecutor, Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the defendants, who were attached to Julius Berger Yard, Abuja, vandalised a Honda car parked in the yard and stole N580, 000 kept in the car.

The prosecutor said that the complainant, Ilupeju Olasunkanmi, parked his car at the yard of his office and discovered that it had been vandalised.

Nwaforaku said the matter was reported at Wuye Divisional Police Station by Olasunkanmi, who is of FCDA, Julius Berger Yard, Games Village, Abuja, on Nov. 12.

He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 196, 327 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Mr Salihu Ibrahim, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N580, 000 each with one surety in like sum.

Ibrahim adjourned the case till Dec. 15 for further hearing.
