RIGA, Dec 17 (LETA) - Latvia's Tele2 mobile operator has put its 5G base stations in Daugavpils and Jelgava into operation as the company continues to deploy its 5G network in Latvia, Tele2 spokesman Oskars Firmanis told LETA.

He noted that in Daugavpils the Tele2 5G mobile mast has been installed near the Skirotava railway station and the 5G station in Jelgava has been installed at the Dobele highway.

Firmanis said that the two base stations will start operating in the commercial mode in January 2020.

As reported, Tele2 closed 2018 with EUR 131.432 million in turnover, up 4.6 percent against a year before, while the company's profit grew 6.6 percent year-on-year to EUR 30.904 million.

Tele2, registered in 1995, has a share capital of EUR 3.486 million. Its sole owner is Sweden's Tele2 Sverige Aktiebolag.
