BEIJING (AP) _ PetroChina Ltd. (PTR) on Wednesday reported a first-quarter loss of $2.33 billion, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Beijing-based company said it had a loss of $1.27.

The oil and gas company posted revenue of $72.93 billion in the period.

PetroChina shares have declined 29% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 44% in the last 12 months.
