PepsiCo Inc. on Wednesday said it named Wern-Yuen Tan chief executive of its Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and China region, effective June 15.

The Purchase, N.Y., beverages and snacks giant said Mr. Tan joins from Walmart Inc., where he was president and CEO of Walmart China, leading 100,000 employees responsible for more than $10 billion in annual revenue across the Walmart, Sam's Club and e-commerce businesses.

PepsiCo said Mr. Tan succeeds Ram Krishnan, who will transition fully to his role as global chief commercial officer. Mr. Krishnan had been serving as CEO of the company's APAC region when he was named to succeed Laxman Narasimhan as global chief commercial officer last June.

Mr. Tan, who will be based in Singapore, will report to PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta, the company said.
