Mitie : comments on apprenticeship announcement in Summer Statement 2020

'As an employer with hundreds of apprentices across the UK, we welcome any initiatives that help develop the next generation of talent. However, the Chancellor has missed a vital opportunity to remove the significant barriers that prevent many employees from beginning an apprenticeship.

'By broadening the Apprenticeship Levy to also fund core English and Maths qualifications and improve English language skills, we can support far more people in developing the key skills needed to start an apprenticeship.'
