ROSEMEAD, Calif. (AP) _ Edison International (EIX) on Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $318 million.

On a per-share basis, the Rosemead, California-based company said it had profit of 85 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1 per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.11 per share.

The electric power provider posted revenue of $2.99 billion in the period.

Edison International expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.37 to $4.62 per share.

Edison International shares have fallen 27% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has stayed nearly flat. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $55.11, a drop of 22% in the last 12 months.
