SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (AP) _ TE Connectivity Ltd. (TEL) on Wednesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $41 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Schaffhausen, Switzerland-based company said it had a loss of 12 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 59 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The electronics maker posted revenue of $2.55 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.39 billion.

TE Connectivity shares have declined slightly more than 9% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has stayed nearly flat. The stock has dropped almost 8% in the last 12 months.
