SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) _ Eversource Energy (ES) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $252.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Springfield, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 75 cents.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 76 cents per share.

The New England power provider posted revenue of $1.95 billion in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.04 billion.

Eversource expects full-year earnings to be $3.60 to $3.70 per share.

Eversource shares have climbed 6.5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $90.58, a rise of 18% in the last 12 months.
