Shares of energy companies fell as a rotation from the technology sector into value sectors such as energy reversed itself ahead of earnings from major Silicon Valley companies this week.

Oil futures rose amid expectations of lower production from Iraq and Libya. Natural gas futures rose, arresting a long decline and registering its biggest gain so far this year, after indications of a rebound in demand.

Diamond Offshore Drilling, which filed for bankruptcy last April, entered a credit restructuring agreement designed to cut more than $2.1 billion in debt.
