CAMPBELL, Calif. (AP) _ 8x8 Inc. (EGHT) on Wednesday reported a loss of $38.4 million in its fiscal second quarter.

The Campbell, California-based company said it had a loss of 37 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and to extinguish debt, came to 3 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 7 cents per share.

The telecommunications services company posted revenue of $129.1 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $126.1 million.

For the current quarter ending in January, 8x8 said it expects revenue in the range of $132 million to $133 million.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $519 million to $522 million.

8x8 shares have decreased 13% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $15.95, a drop of 19% in the last 12 months.
