Glattpark, 16 December 2022: Allreal is planning a 40-metre-tall building with 64 rental apartments and commercial spaces at Badenerstrasse 501-505 in Zurich Altstetten. For the project, the company carried out a study contract involving five architecture firms. At the end of October 2022, the judging panel recommended that the project should proceed on the basis of the plans submitted by Michael Meier und Marius Hug Architekten from Zurich. Construction is scheduled to start in 2025, with completion planned for 2027.

Allreal acquired the property at Badenerstrasse 501-505 in Zurich Altstetten back in 2020. The building on the plot spanning 1,739 square metres is situated right next to Letzigrund Stadium. Due to the age and condition of the existing property, Allreal is planning to replace it with a new build focused on sustainability and reduced traffic. The new build is designed as a high-rise residential building, which addresses the continuously high demand for additional living space in the city of Zurich.

With a view to keeping the standards on this project high in terms of both implementation and architecture, a feasibility study was commissioned to start with in 2021. Strict sustainability requirements were an integral part of the project even at that stage. Five well-known architectural firms were then invited to enter a competition in early 2022. The evaluation committee, headed by Oliver Dufner of Burkard Meyer Architekten in Baden, recommended that the project should proceed on the basis of the plans submitted by Michael Meier und Marius Hug Architekten from Zurich.

The high-rise residential building in the plans comprises 64 rental apartments with 2½ to 4½ rooms above customisable commercial spaces on the ground floor. The property is also set to have a spacious roof terrace that will be open to all tenants.

Since the property is located in the city centre and has excellent public transport links, Allreal has made the conscious decision to not include an underground car park in the plans and to reduce the traffic as far as possible. Another exciting feature of the high-rise residential building is the photovoltaic system with its solar panels on the roof and entire building front to ensure that the running of the building is completely carbon neutral.

With the planning application expected to be submitted in the first half of 2024, construction is due to start in 2025 and finish in 2027.
