Audax Renovables starts construction of its photovoltaic project in Ciguñuela, Valladolid
  • With an investment of between 7 and 8 million euros, the Zaratán I and II project will have overall power of 12.3 MWp.
  • The company expects to generate around 70 direct and indirect jobs in its immediate vicinity.

3 March 2022. Audax Renovables (ADX.MC), a vertically integrated Spanish energy group that generates and supplies 100% renewable electricity and gas to customers in 7 countries, has announced the start of construction of its photovoltaic project in the municipality of Ciguñuela, in the province of Valladolid, which will have overall capacity of 12.3 MWp.

In line with its strategy of continuing to promote its production activity through the different projects that make up its portfolio, Audax plans to invest between 7 and 8 million euros in its construction, with which it expects to generate around 70 direct and indirect jobs in its immediate vicinity to employ around 10 professionals once the plant is up and running.

The project will have 22,560 545-Wp modules with 1-axis trackers, producing 21.5 GWh/year, equivalent to the energy consumption of almost 5,500 homes and around 17,000 people. Its commitment to clean energy will prevent the atmospheric emission of 3,840 tonnes of CO2 per year.

This facility will be connected to the Zaratán substation with a 200-metre power evacuation line that is part of a common evacuation infrastructure with other developers, with an estimated construction period of around 7 months. The company has hired prime contractors to supervise the works and who comply with high quality standards, under the EPC (turnkey) method.

New projects in 2021 include the connection to the grid of 35 MWp from the Cañamares (Cuenca), Carolinas I and II and Zarzuela I, II, III and IV plants (Toledo), and authorisation for the entry into operation of the Alberizas I, II, II and IV plants (Guadalajara), with 20 MWp. Between January and February this year, the company also completed work on the Calañas (Huelva), Los Arenales and El Toconal (Toledo) plants, totalling 14.5 MWp. In Panama, the Toabré wind farm project, in which Audax holds a 30% stake, has completed construction work and the facility is currently in test production.

Audax currently has 226 MW of installed capacity, 150% more than in 2020, of which almost half (112 MW) is located outside Spain.

These projects are part of the Audax Group's firm commitment and strategy to increase its 100% renewable generation portfolio by increasing its production portfolio, either through organic growth or by closing purchase deals, with the aim of supplying its customers with renewable energy produced at its own plants.
