FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Notice on Decision to Commence Negotiation with Micron Technology, Inc. Tokyo, Japan, May 10, 2012 - Elpida Memory, Inc. ("Elpida") is pleased to announce that today Elpida commences negotiation with Micron Technology, Inc. ("Micron") regarding an agreement on Micron's support of Elpida.

Such decision has been made under the Tokyo District Court approval on May 10, 2012 allowing Elpida's trustees to enter into negotiation of an agreement with Micron, pursuant to which Micron would become Elpida's sponsor and support Elpida in accordance with the Corporate Reorganization Proceedings.
Elpida filed a petition for commencement of Corporate Reorganization Proceedings with the Tokyo District Court under the Corporate Reorganization Act of Japan on Feb. 27, 2012, which proceedings have been commenced. As a result of bidding process to select a company to become a "sponsor" of Elpida during its Corporate Reorganization Proceedings and to support Elpida, Elpida has decided to move forward to negotiation with Micron as a potential sponsor.
Elpida would appreciate all of understandings and cooperation from concerned parties toward its
Corporate Reorganization proceedings.
