- Revealing plans for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 through mid- to long-term greenhouse gas reduction roadmap

- "We will create a reliable and sustainable future in the global market through ESG management activities," CEO Cho Jae-cheon stated.

Hyundai Elevator announced on the 10th of this month that it has published its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) report for 2022 and 2023.

The report consists of three main parts: "ESG Management," which includes Hyundai Elevator's ESG management status and evaluation of key issues related to the environment, society, and governance; "ESG Progress," which presents qualitative achievements in ESG management; and "ESG Factbook," which provides quantitative performance data.

The report mainly includes Hyundai Elevator's ESG vision and strategy, as well as a declaration of carbon neutrality by 2050 based on the SBTi (*see note) 1.5°C scenario to address climate change. Hyundai Elevator is planning to reduce carbon emissions by 42% by 2030 and 71% by 2040, based on the carbon emissions from the construction of the Chungju Smart Campus in 2022, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

To achieve these goals, Hyundai Elevator will establish a medium-to long-term roadmap for greenhouse gas reduction and engage in activities such as △ additional installation of renewable energy (solar power) generation facilities, △ expansion of electric and hybrid corporate vehicles, and △ energy-saving campaigns.

Cho Jae-cheon, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, stated, "We will make efforts to become a company that is trusted in the global market and opens up a sustainable future through transparent ESG management activities, including the publication of annual reports."

In June, Hyundai Elevator established an ESG Committee under its board of directors, the company's highest decision-making body. The Committee analyzes the company's impact on the environment and society while laying the foundation for advanced ESG management through strategic and systematic approaches.
