MEDIA RELEASEMetax Engineering signs MOU to design and build Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants for Bali International ParkSINGAPORE, 23 June 2011 – Metax Engineering Corporation Limited (“Metax Engineering”, and together with its subsidiaries “the Group”), a home-grown environmental engineering SGX-Catalist listed company is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Metax Eco Solutions Pte. Ltd. (“MES”) has signed a legally binding Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”), effective from 29 April 2011, with PT Jimbaran Hijau to design and build water and wastewater treatment plants for the Bali International Park (“BIP”) which will be the venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (“APEC”) meeting in 2013.

PT Jimbaran Hijau is the developer of the BIP, which is to be built in Jimbaran, Bali. The BIP will cover 250 hectares of land and have the facilities of a convention and exhibition centre, a convention hotel and a heads of state estate for the 21 participating countries of APEC. The total number of participants for the APEC meeting is expected to be 10,000.

Under the MOU, MES will be engaged as the contractor to design and build water and wastewater treatment plants on a turnkey basis in phases for the 250 hectares of land allocated for the BIP. It also intends to set up a joint venture company with PT Jimbaran Hijau, which will be granted an exclusive concession to operate and

maintain the water and wastewater treatment plants for the entire BIP for a period of

25 years commencing from May 2013.

Commenting on the signing of the MOU, Mr Tan Tze Wen, the Managing Director of Metax Engineering said: “We have been steadily growing our expertise in the water and wastewater treatment sector over the years. With this MOU, it shows that we are now ready to take on sizeable water treatment projects in the region.”
