The plan provides a combination of balanced, results-driven nutrition with a flexible dining approach, along with highly personalized, technical support.

Food and Nutrition Mission

Recently, the company announced its Food and Nutrition mission to make its foods fresher, its labels cleaner, and its approach to ingredients more transparent. Nutrisystem’s foods already contain:

  • No artificial flavors or sweeteners
  • No colors from artificial sources
  • No high fructose corn syrup
  • No artificial trans fats (No partially hydrogenated oils)

In conjunction with the launch of FreshStart, the company developed a list of 71 Restricted Ingredients and set a goal to eliminate seven more over the next year. The restriction of these ingredients more closely aligns Nutrisystem foods with popular, clean label food retailers and the Center for Science in the Public Interest. New Healthy Living Team

Nutrisystem is also debuting its Healthy Living Team, which includes chefs, nutritionists, registered dieticians and Nutrisystem counselors, all dedicated to helping customers eat in a way that satisfies, delivers results and achieves optimal well-being. For the FreshStart program, the Healthy Living Team’s chefs carefully select farm-fresh ingredients, measure, chop, and cook up America’s favorite foods made healthier, perfectly balanced for healthy weight loss. The Healthy Living Team’s goal is that over time, people will naturally begin to prefer the right foods in the right portions. The Team will also deliver daily tips, family-friendly recipes, and inspirational content via Nutrisystem’s content site (The Leaf), the NuMi® app, and social channels.

Since Nutrisystem’s Healthy Living Team creates and delivers delicious foods in the right balance and portions, there’s less planning, prep and guesswork with FreshStart. In addition, the program recommends ways to enjoy dining with family and friends, and even allows for the occasional glass of wine.

New Advertising and Marketing

The company announced its new FreshStart advertising campaign, which is set to launch later this month, and will be coordinated across digital, social, television and print channels. “Our approach this year represents an exciting, fresh departure for us,” according to Keira Krausz, Chief Marketing Officer of Nutrisystem, Inc. “While we proudly remain performance marketers, we also are focused on employing visuals and messages that underscore our brand evolution.”

The Company initiated relationships with digital and television creative agencies to deliver a wide variety of formats, including video, to air across platforms, as it accelerates its digital reach.

Revamped App

To accompany FreshStart, Nutrisystem has revamped its app, NuMi, available for free to all Nutrisystem customers. Building on NuMi’s popular contests and ability to engage, motivate, and reward, the company has enhanced the app’s contests, gamification and in-app shopping functionalities. Over half of Nutrisystem customers use NuMi, which makes Nutrisystem uniquely able to deliver a more customized, personalized experience to its customers. In addition, for those wanting an even more personalized approach to weight management, DNA Body Blueprint will be available to customers throughout their journey as an upsell, providing a nutrition and fitness-oriented plan based on their unique genetic coding.

As with all Nutrisystem programs, FreshStart delivers safe and effective weight loss.
