Pennon Group has been named as Britain's most admired utilities company 2020 by Management Today.

Britain's Most Admired Companies is the longest-running annual survey of corporate reputation in the UK, with data going back 30 years.

The study is run by leading reputation specialists with support from academic partners.

Britain's largest public companies and leading employers across 26 sectors are asked to evaluate their peers across 13 key criteria. Using responses from board-level representatives, analysts and city commentators, the survey is a peer review of corporate reputation, as seen by a company's closest critics - its peers and financial influencers.

The report showed that Pennon Group performed particularly strongly on quality of management; quality of products and services; ability to attract, develop and retain top talent; community and environmental responsibility; and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Susan Davy, Pennon Group Chief Executive, said: 'We are delighted to be named Britain's Most Admired Utilities Company.

'We all know that water companies have a vital role today and every day, providing customers with safe and clean drinking water, and clean bathing waters, with the importance that has on health and hygiene.

'For us it is not just about what we do but how we do it - and that's why we place such importance on living our core values daily, operating in the public interest, in the regions we support.

'We believe taking a leadership role in promoting environmental, social and governance goals is the role of responsible business today in creating sustainable and financial value -for the benefit of shareholders, customers, and our people for the longer term.'

Headquartered in Exeter, Pennon Group is the parent company of South West Water, Bournemouth Water and Pennon Water Services.

Last week Pennon was also recognised as a global leader on gender equality. For the second year running, the company was named in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, a report that recognises the performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation and transparency.
