PT United Tractors Tbk : Two Chess Athletes Fostered by United Tractors Successfully Achieve in International Championships

Two chess athletes nurtured by PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) through the "Inspiring Youth" program have once more achieved remarkable accomplishments. This time, Novendra Priasmoro secured first place at the Ottakring Open 2023 in Vienna on September 7, 2023. Novendra also successfully qualified for the 2023 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, due to a 10-point increase (2449) in his Elo rating from an open tournament in Hungary.

Novendra earned the Grand Master (GM) title in 2020 when he was just 18 years old. Following his participation in Ottakring Open 2023, Novendra has become the top chess player in Indonesia, referring to his Elo rating rising from 2486 to 2499. This tournament was his most recent event before achieving this milestone and attracted 130 participants from various countries. The competition took place from August 26 to September 3, 2023.

Novendra has been a UT-supported chess athlete since 2017. At that time, Indonesia only had 4 Grand Masters. As a company committed to nurturing Grand Masters in Indonesia and promoting the popularity of chess as a sport, UT is dedicated to providing full support, including training and participation in national and international tournaments, to its chess athletes.

Simultaneously, Aditya Bagus Arfan has secured the 4th position among chess players in Indonesia and earned his first International Master (IM) title in August 2023. Additionally, in September 2023, Aditya's score improved by 5.4 points (2415), thus ranking 3rd in the Malaysia Chess Festival. In November 2023, Aditya is expected to participate in the 2023 World Youth U18 Championships tournament in Montesilvano, Italy. Aditya's objective is to achieve the title of Grand Master in 2025 by actively participating in a range of tournaments.
