Friday, 3 November 2023 - The Australian Government's Department of Veterans' Affairs and TechnologyOne have joined forces to deliver on a transformational three-year, $7 million technology upgrade which will help to better support war veterans, the Australian Defence Force, the Australian Federal Police and their families.
The investment is part of DVA's Veteran Centric Reform and will provide them with the tools and expertise to better serve the community and to make it easier for veterans and their families to engage. To do this, DVA will move away from an on-premise legacy system supported by Services Australia to a modern, flexible Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution by TechnologyOne. This includes Financials, Supply Chain Management, HR & Payroll, Corporate Performance Management and Contracts.
The major modernisation project is another vote of confidence for TechnologyOne in understanding and delivering the needs of Government, with the Australian-made global software vendor's solution trusted by more than 230 Federal and State Government agencies and departments across Australia and New Zealand, including the Tasmanian and Western Australian Governments.
TechnologyOne CEO Ed Chung said: "The accelerating pace of technological change and the transformative capabilities of SaaS demanded a change to outdated delivery models such as Shared Services. At TechnologyOne, we're proud to deliver smart, modern solutions to better our community, we solve the complex for our customers so they can focus on their customers. This is about allowing DVA to do what they do best - delivering government programs for war veterans, members of the Australian Defence Force, members of the Australian Federal Police, and their dependents. With a few former ADF members within our ranks, it was a cause close to our heart."
Independent research commissioned by TechnologyOne in 2021, based on measured, real-world experience in 68 Australian organisations across the public sector, estimated potential savings for Australian Governments of $62 billion over 10 years from a transition to modern software solutions over three years. In addition to reduced cost of ownership, the research demonstrated productivity gains and operational savings from greater visibility and control over departmental finances, supported by real-world examples of government customers.
