The pandemic is sidelining a lot of the usual rites of Halloween, but one Smyrna, Georgia Krystal location has taken it on itself to remedy some of those issues. On the hallowed day, Oct. 31, Krystal's South Cobb Drive store will hold its own all-out Halloween celebration for its guests from 4 to 8 p.m. local time, a news release said.

In partnership with the Hershey Company, Krystal employees will hand out candy provided by Hershey to all children who yell "trick or treat" safely from their car windows, just keeping everything safe and socially distant. The restaurant will be decorated for the occasion for photo ops, and the drive-thru will be open all day.

"We are thrilled to partner with Krystal to provide an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating this year," Al Adams, Hershey senior manager, national chain strategy and channel marketing said in the release. "Halloween is a special tradition for families and communities, and we want to ensure children have many ways to celebrate the holiday safely."

Krystal said that a number of other stores in the chain will also be giving sweets out on Halloween and it will be the last day to purchase the brand's mystery purple milkshake LTO.

Krystal, based in Atlanta, has 300 restaurants in nine states.
