Time Warner Cable today announced that Mark Shuken has been named Senior Vice President and General Manager for TWC Sports Regional Networks. In this new role, Shuken will oversee day-to-day management, programming, production, marketing and all business operations of the regional sports networks. This will include the two previously announced regional sports networks set to launch in California in the fall of 2012. He will report to David Rone, President of TWC Sports.

In February 2011, Time Warner Cable and the Los Angeles Lakers entered into a 20-year, wide-ranging agreement for rights to distribute all locally available pre-season, regular season, and post-season Lakers games, beginning with the 2012-2013 season. To showcase the games, Time Warner Cable will launch two regional sports networks in HD, including the nation's first Spanish-language regional sports network, with new state-of-the-art facilities in Los Angeles, to bring fans the most compelling Lakers content using the latest technology. The networks will be available to all satellite, cable and telco distributors in the Lakers' territory, which includes all of Southern California, Nevada and Hawaii.

"Mark has successfully led regional sports operations at both DIRECTV and Fox, and is the ideal selection to lead our regional sports initiatives. He has extensive experience in launching and running regional sports networks," said Rone. "Mark also has deep-rooted relationships and is widely recognized as a leader across the cable and sports industries. We're thrilled to have someone of his caliber joining our team."

Prior to joining Time Warner Cable, Shuken served as President and CEO of DIRECTV Sports Networks, where he was responsible for all of the company's regional sports networks. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Liberty Sports Group, where he created and led a standalone division of regional sports networks. Before that, he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Fox Sports Net Northwest, which, at that time, was the nation's most highly rated regional sports network. He has 25 years in sports programming experience.

Shuken graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Santa Clara. He also spends a significant amount of time on community service initiatives, including currently acting as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Washington, and serving on the Boards of Directors for The First Tee of Greater Seattle and the Seattle Sports Commission. Shuken will reside in Los Angeles.
