31 August 2018, Moscow - Aeroflot intends to prosecute a disruptive passenger following an incident that occurred on flight SU 270 from Moscow to Bangkok.

The passenger exhibited clear signs of alcohol intoxication, and violated public order and the passenger code of conduct by refusing to follow the orders of the aircraft captain, physically threatening another passenger and trying to provoke a fight.

Other passengers provided assistance to the crew and successfully used improvised methods to keep the passenger in his seat until the end of the flight. Upon arrival at Bangkok airport the passenger was handed over to police officers. Aeroflot is currently gathering documents to file a case against the passenger at the Sheremetyevo airport police department.

Aeroflot has repeatedly proposed the introduction of measures to allow airlines to use restraining devices for passengers who fail to heed verbal warnings and put flight security at risk. The airline's efforts in this area have led to the adoption of amendments to the Russian Criminal Code, with tougher penalties for disruptive behaviour on public transport. Aeroflot also reminds passengers that from June 2018, Russian airlines are legally able to blacklist offenders and deny them future transportation.
