COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the number one provider of supplemental insurance in the United States, has been named to FORTUNE magazine's prestigious list of the "100 Best Places to Work For". Aflac is the only insurance company to appear on the list for 15 straight years.

"We are proud of Aflac's 15(th) consecutive year appearing on FORTUNE's list of the 100 Best Places to Work For," Aflac Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dan Amos said. "It validates our steadfast commitment to treat individuals like family, because we know that employees provide the foundation of any successful business, including Aflac."

To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, more than 277,000 employees responded to a survey created by the Best Place to Work Institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the survey that asks questions related to attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts.

The full list and related stories will appear in the February 4 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands on Monday, January 21. FORTUNE's online report is available at fortune.com/BestCompanies beginning on the morning of January 17.
