• Almirall stands 85% below the official accident rate of the pharmaceutical sector in Spain
  • The pharmaceutical plant has reduced its accident rate by 97% in the last 11 years
  • The international affiliates reduce their accidents rate by 62% compared to 2014, achieving an all-time record.

Almirall S.A., a global pharmaceutical company based in Barcelona, has reduced its accident rate in Spain by 69% in 2015, which has meant that the company stands 85% below the official accident rate in the pharmaceutical sector in Spain. The results achieved largely owe themselves to the initiatives undertaken by Almirall to reinforce the safety of their staff.

'The excellent results achieved by the company are due to the number of actions that have been taken over the last few years in terms of safety and awareness-raising. In particular, during 2015 specific awareness-raising campaigns were implemented. In addition, at this point, we should highlight the important role played by our professionals with their commitment to health and safety ', said Cesar Hernandez, Head of Health, Safety and Environment of Almirall. 'These results place the accident rate of Almirall Spain at very low levels, 85% below the rate of the sector,' he adds.

Almirall is not only investing in Health and Satefy, its project aims to continuously improve its infrastructures, at the same time as training its professionals in terms of occupational risks so that they can improve their knowledge. In recent years, various specific campaigns have been launched, which have put more emphasis on areas where traditionally more accidents were recorded. 'Safety on the road' campaign for affiliates highlights, as well as 'For you, for everyone' campaign of the pharmaceutical plant and the 'Between you and the rules there is chemistry' campaign of the chemical plants.

'At Almirall we go above the classic concepts of health, safety and prevention, we not only try to avoid damage, something that we take for granted, but our commitment is found in our support of the wellbeing of our collaborators', affirms Cesar Hernandez.

These plans include training programs and monitoring of health and wellbeing, among other things, to support this age group and thus help them to continue bringing their knowledge to the company in the future in a healthy manner.
