Audible Inc., the world’s largest producer and distributor of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today announced the forthcoming launch of Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light, the first installment of a new connected universe of stories and characters, debuting on Audible in a first-of-its-kind audio storytelling event. Written by Stan Lee and Kat Rosenfield, and created by Stan Lee, Luke Lieberman and Ryan Silbert, Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light is available for preorder today on Audible.com/ATrickOfLight.

Years in the making, Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light is one of the cultural icon’s final collaborations and returns him to his creative roots as he explores the complex relationship between humankind, science and technology. Lee lends his own voice to the introduction of this audio-first event.

“We’re delighted to bring this epic story to global audiences and introduce listeners to a brand new Stan Lee universe,” said David Blum, Editor-in-Chief, Audible Originals. “This amazing adventure forged from the imagination of the legendary Stan Lee is not only extraordinarily entertaining but is profoundly insightful about modern technology and its resulting challenges. Listeners and fans will love and relate to this story.”

Co-creators Luke Lieberman and Ryan Silbert commented, “Stan had the uncanny ability to see around the corner and recognize the cultural moment, then create story and characters that beg the deeper questions. Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light follows in this tradition. As his co-creators and, most importantly, his fans, we can’t wait for other fans to discover this world on Audible.”

This first-of-its-kind project launches dozens of new characters, and a new era of storytelling from the legendary creator himself, developed with Lee’s hand-picked collaborators and Yfat Reiss Gendell and Foundry Literary + Media (Ready Player One, Hello Sunshine), who architected this innovative multi-platform deal.

“Stan was so enthusiastic about joining the innovative Audible team bringing you his first audio event,” said Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment President Gill Champion. “Stan loved these characters and their relationships, but also the way the narrative pushes the boundaries of how technology impacts our lives.” The collaboration highlights Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment’s commitment to further propel his legacy through new projects Stan had been working on.

Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light introduces listeners to a mysterious young woman, Nia, whose fate is intertwined with a seemingly ordinary Midwestern teenager, Cameron Ackerson, whose quest for YouTube stardom takes him to the heart of the Great Lakes Triangle where he is imbued with the power to “see” and “hear” a new reality. As Nia and Cameron’s relationship grows, they conspire to create a more righteous online universe, dishing out justice big and small, but wind up crossing a shadowy outfit called OPTIC, which goes after them for its own nefarious purposes. Meanwhile, a threat of galactic proportions emerges, imperiling humanity’s very existence by harnessing our individual desire to connect as the very means to destroy us.

Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light joins a robust slate of Audible Originals, exclusive audio entertainment created by celebrated storytellers from the worlds of theater, journalism, comedy, literature and more. Audible Originals offer powerful performances created for listeners by award-winning actors, writers and comedians, spanning every genre and length.
