American Express : Card Members Score with Triple-Doubles in the NBA Playoffs and Finals

As the NBA Finals, presented by YouTube TV, tips off on May 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC, American Express is using one of the most exciting feats in basketball to deliver a first-of-its-kind, performance-based offer for Card Members.

During the 2019 NBA Playoffs and Finals, when any player records a triple-double (accumulating a double-digit number total in three of five categories - points, rebounds, assists, steals or blocked shots - in a game), American Express® Card Members can score 32% off eligible items at NBAStore.com for 24 hours the day after the game. The offer, which went live for the Playoffs starting on April 13, has been activated thirteen times to date, and will continue to run through the highly anticipated NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV, starting on Thursday, May 30.

Over the past few years, the NBA has seen a boom in triple-doubles. Some interesting facts include:

• There were 127 triple-doubles recorded this regular season, an all-time high. This broke the previous record set in the 2016-17 season of 117. The third most triple-doubles recorded was 108, set during the 2017-18 season.
• One player led the league with 34 triple-doubles this season, tying him for the second highest number of triple-doubles of all-time in the history of the NBA.
• 37 players have recorded at least one triple-double this season - the most in a single season in NBA history.
• 15 players have recorded four or more triple-doubles in the Playoffs, up from 10 last season.

Here's how the limited-time offer works:

• Once a player registers a triple-double during a Playoff or Finals game, it activates the Amex offer, which goes live at 9:00 a.m. ET the following morning.
