2+2 Turkish-German Cooperative Program was initiated in 2014 as a funding tool to strengthen the scientific collaboration between Turkey and Germany. Program requires both university and industry partners from each country. Supported bilaterally by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), ASELSAN Research Center with its academic partner Bilkent University applied for the call of 2+2 Program with the project 'Real time Imaging Methods for Interventional Magnetic Particle Imaging'

For the German side, University of Luebeck and Nano4Imaging GmbH will participate as partners of the program. ASELSAN aims to reduce the calibration and data acquisition time using compressive sensing techniques, to enable the design of hardware and software meeting clinical requirements, and develop an image formation unit. The market size for Magnetic Particle Imaging devices is expected to grow significantly in the following years, up to 50 Million Euros yearly by 2020 and 700 Million Euros yearly by 2025.

As a result of the evaluations of TÜBİTAK and BMBF, only 9 projects were announced eligible for the funding criteria among 130 total applications submitted to call for the 2+2 Program.
