We want to see your filmmaking talent

A 3-minute black and white short about the grit and beauty of New York City.

A 360-degree cinematic video that takes viewers deep into the heart of Africa's circle of life.

A teenager's personal story about being the victim of online bullying, and the one phone call that gave him hope.

These powerful stories are just some of those recognized over the last 5 editions of AT&T's Film Awards. Launched in 2016, the AT&T Film Awards is a competition and program designed to support, reward, and nurture aspiring professional and student filmmakers across the U.S. We look for imaginative, undiscovered short films from emerging creators who want their voices heard.

The Film Awards spotlight the most unique storytellers, ranging in age, background and perspective. We know that some of the most powerful narratives - those with the potential to incite conversation and drive change - are yet to be told. So we want the Film Awards to be a vehicle for elevating these stories.

This year, through the AT&T Aspire initiative, we're proud to support the Youth Filmmaker category. This category shines the spotlight on middle and high school students (ages 13-18) with a passion for storytelling.

The mission is simple: Create a 2-5 minute film using a mobile device (smartphone, tablet or drone) that achieves one of these:

  • Inspire your peers to care for the environment
  • Highlight the importance of positivity and kindness in a world where many youth face bullying
  • Remind peers to not drive distracted

Creativity and originality are key. We'll also be judging entries on characterization and the written description of vision for the film.

Submissions are open now through Dec. 7 (or until we reach 1,000 submissions) in 6 categories:

  • Emerging Filmmakers Awards
  • Youth Filmmakers Awards
  • Underrepresented Filmmaker Award
  • Best Spanish Language Short - Student
  • Best Short - Shot On Mobile
  • Best VR/AR/MR Project.
