CloudSigma, provider of cloud computing services in four continents, is launching operations in Poland. Under a partnership arrangement, the Swiss company has entrusted its servers to the operator of the country's largest data center. Atman will support CloudSigma in the Polish market not only with its technological resources, but also with its many years of business experience.

CloudSigma is a Swiss firm founded in 2009, present in Western Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia, whose customers include the European Space Agency and Deutsche Börse (the company managing the Frankfurt Stock Exchange). In Poland, in view of the growing interest there in cloud computing, Big Data and IaaS services, the company plans in 2016 to begin selling cloud solutions to both large and small firms.

Data location: Poland

CloudSigma's services represent direct competition not only to the largest Polish cloud providers, but also to Western firms that have been winning over Polish customers with very low prices for initial purchase and monthly maintenance.

'CloudSigma offers an easy-to-use solution and a flexible model for the scaling of resources, but above all it is the first global operator that allows customers to select a location for their cloud and to have it located in a data center in Poland. This is a nod to those customers that already use cloud solutions, including those of CloudSigma, or are considering doing so, but have significant concerns about issues arising from the storage of data outside Poland,' says Krystian Fydrych of Atman.

The location of some of its IT infrastructure within the country will enable CloudSigma to comply with restrictive legal regulations on data processing. It will operate in Poland through a subsidiary company that is exclusively subject to local legal requirements.

Customer convenience a priority

Apart from such features as a convenient panel for managing the cloud environment and high flexibility in modifying service parameters and settings, another advantage offered by CloudSigma is its extremely transparent billing model.

'CloudSigma bills customers depending on actual use of computing power. Several key parameters are monitored, including usage of CPU time, RAM, disk space and network bandwidth. In this way you can see what costs are generated not only by your piece of the cloud, but also by specific elements of it,' explains Krystian Fydrych, IaaS specialist at Atman.

Direction Eastern Europe

CloudSigma, which already has operations in four continents, is concentrating this year on expanding its European base. Observing the changing trends in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe, the company has taken a decision to locate new servers in Poland.

'Beginning operations in the Polish market is an important decision for us. We are relying on its becoming a foundation for our expansion in this part of Europe. A presence in Poland will also enable us to build cloud-based geolocation clusters between CloudSigma's three European cloud platforms situated in Zurich, Frankfurt and Warsaw,' explains Robert Jenkins, CEO and co-founder of CloudSigma.

An infrastructure partner

A key task on entering the Polish market was to find a suitable partner offering a world-class data center. The choice of Atman was dictated by such factors as the highest level of security for stored and processed data and the excellent conditions for telecommunications offered by the Atman network: reach, cooperation with Tier 1 operators, and presence at many Polish and European Internet exchange points, which guarantee exceptionally low packet delays.

'As the operator of Poland's largest data center, we see many benefits arising from our partnership with CloudSigma. This is a world-renowned cloud computing provider, serving extremely demanding customers. This cooperation is a significant part of Atman's strategy and fits ideally with the current trend for consolidation in the IT market,' says Sylwester Biernacki, CEO of ATM S.A.

ATM S.A. is the WSE listed Polish data center market leader as well as an expert in security of data transmission and processing. Under the Atman brand the company provides colocation, hosting and cloud computing services in its data centers with 13,600 sq m (146,400 sq ft) of the total space.
