ROSELAND, N.J. (AP) _ Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $651.6 million.

The Roseland, New Jersey-based company said it had net income of $1.50 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.52 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.45 per share.

The payroll and human resources company posted revenue of $3.67 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.68 billion.

ADP shares have decreased 16% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has declined slightly more than 9%. The stock has decreased 12% in the last 12 months.
