• Santander rises six places compared to the 2017 ranking, its best result to date.

Banco Santander has achieved its best result to date and is ranked third in the world among banks and the first in Europe in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the international benchmark that measures sustainability based on the economic, environmental and social impact of companies.

The DJSI gave the highest possible score (100) to thebank'sefforts in financial inclusion, energy efficiency and other important aspects of sustainability management. This is the 18thyear in a row that Santander has been included in the DJSI, a reflection of theentity'sconsistent sustainability management. This is the eighth consecutive year that Santander is ranked number one amongSpain'sbanks.

With a total grade of 86 points out of 100, Banco Santander is recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the highest ranked banks in the world for sustainability management. Only 27 financial entities were included in DJSI World's2018 ranking out of a total of 133 evaluated.

Santander is also included in other stock market indices that analyze and evaluate the efforts of companies in the area of sustainability such as the FTSE4Good or the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. In addition, other important measures of the non-financial aspects of sustainability in use at Santander, such as Sustainalytics, Vigeo Eiris, MSCI or ISS-oekom, show that thebank'sresults have over the past year and that its performance is above average for the sector.
