The open data made available by the Bank of Greece to the general public and researchers have now earned the 'endorsement' of the inventor of the World Wide Web.

The Bank of Greece is the first central bank worldwide and the first organisation in Greece to obtain an Open Data Certificate.

The Bank of Greece has earned an Open Data Certificate for the data published on its open data portal from the Open Data Institute Athens Node, which is managed by the Open Technologies Alliance (GFOSS). The Open Data Institute was co-founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, with the mission to show the value of open data, and to advocate for the innovative use of open data.

It is worth noting that the Bank of Greece is the first central bank worldwide and the first organisation in Greece to obtain Open Data Certification.

The open data portal of the Bank of Greece gives the general public and researchers open access to updated high-quality data on the real estate market, public finances, exchange rates, etc. The data are available in machine-readable format. ODI Certification of the data publishing process is a guarantee of data quality.
