Tokyo stocks rose moderately Friday amid expectations that the Bank of Japan could implement additional easing measures as early as next month.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 34.64 points, or 0.16 percent, from Thursday at 22,079.09, its highest close since April 26. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0.57 point, or 0.04 percent, higher at 1,616.23.
Gainers were led by precision instrument, metal product and nonferrous metal issues.
