Bank of New York Mellon Corp. on Monday said it named Emily Schlosser chief operating officer of its Pershing unit, which clears trades and lends to brokerage clients.

BNY Mellon said Ms. Schlosser joins Pershing from Goldman Sachs Group Inc., where she was head of change for the global markets division.

A Pershing representative said Ms. Schlosser succeeds James Crowley, who became chief executive of Pershing last year.
