Recently, Banpu Power Japan Company Limited, a subsidiary under Energy Generation Business Group of Banpu Public Company Limited ('Banpu'), a leading integrated energy solutions company in Asia-Pacific, has signed an agreement to establish an office located at the Smart City AiCT of Aizuwakamatsu City -- a center for offices of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The purpose of this new office establishment is to promote the renewable power business operation in Fukushima Prefecture and to study the opportunities for the energy technology business development. The signing ceremony was held at the Aizuwakamatsu City Hall, led by Mr. Chanin Vongkusolkit, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banpu Public Company Limited, Mr. Wataru Shima, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Power Japan (Tokyo Branch), and Mr. Shohei Muroi, the Mayor of Aizuwakamatsu City, and witnessed by the representatives from the Municipality Office, Banpu executives, and local people.

The agreement signing ceremony is considered an important step for Banpu Group which is focusing on the expansion of the renewable energy business. The Company has been moving forward with the Greener & Smarter strategy by operating more environmentally-friendly businesses, with the smarter technology and innovation. The agreement reiterates the Company's commitment to promote renewable power generation in Fukushima, where the 26-MW Nari Aizu Solar Power Plant is located. Also, the office will also be instrumental in the study of energy technology business development, such as electric vehicles (EV) and robotic technology, to further the smart city development.

In addition, Banpu Group's business operation in Fukushima will partially support the local economic development, increase employment opportunities, and create positive impact for the local community.
