For the second time in five years, Barco has won a prestigious 2018 AIS Lumière Technology Award, this time for our HDR Light Steering concept for projectors. The AIS judging committee, made up of working professionals in entertainment technology, selected our submission 'based on excellence, and its role in advancing our industry.'
Since 2009, the Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) has been awarding companies that are 'ushering in the next generation of premium consumer technology'. Other companies that picked up an AIS Lumière Award this year include Apple, IBM, Dreamworks Animation and NVIDIA. AIS president Jim Chabin: 'We were impressed this year by both the stature of the companies participating in the honors process and the wide range of technologies which are now empowering creative people with tools to excite audiences worldwide.'
Anders Ballestad (Director, Business Development, HDR Entertainment), who will accept the award on behalf of Barco and Cinionic at an event next December, underlined the collaborative nature of the award: 'This is a huge win for a super hard-working team, both in Kortrijk and in Vancouver. We did this together.'
