Weinmann's long expertise in producing manufacturing systems for both timber and steel modular housing products means the German-based manufacturer is well-suited to meet with Berkeley's needs.

Berkeley Modular's lNorthfleet manufacturing facility is putting lean manufacturing principles at the heart of its production philosophy, and has prioritised finding equipment vendors who share these principles.

Weinmann, with its extensive range of integrated solutions including material feeding to screw bridging, can help support efficient production methodologies thanks to high production speed and intelligent processes. These solutions will assist Berkeley Modular to consistently produce the high-quality housing products demanded by the Berkeley Group.

The highly-specialised and technologically advanced equipment can handle heavy panels of up to 4,800 kilograms, and different elements of the housing product such as walls, floor and ceiling elements, can be manufactured on one production line. The equipment also offers Berkeley the flexibility to manufacture elements to different dimensions, all while guaranteeing a constantly high level of precision.

In line with Berkeley Modular's intention to utilised digital construction and automation wherever it is likely to create an advantage, Weinmann machinery offers CNC-controlled technology for highest performance.

With the interior fit-out of the factory about to get underway, Weinmann's machinery is scheduled to be installed in the facility in September 2019.

Commenting on the partnership, Weinmann project manager, Jörg Groß said: 'Berkeley Modular's commitment to producing a consistently high-quality modular housing product matches our own high standards of production, and our automated systems will allow the company to achieve its aim of putting lean manufacturing principles to the fore.

'Weinmann is the market leader in the field of system technology, so we are well-placed to ensure that Berkeley Modular's housing product achieves the highest standards of quality and comfort.'
