More than 400 film lovers have enjoyed a pedal powered cinematic experience in the heart of Ealing, thanks to the ongoing regeneration partnership between St George and Ealing Council.

The event saw local people take turns powering big screens in Lammas Park by pedalling 16 bicycles, with their hard work and community spirit ensuring the film - The Greatest showman staring Hugh Jackman - continued uninterrupted from start to finish.

With no back-up generator, the entire showing was 100% pedal powered.

The highly sustainable event was designed to bring local people together to enjoy a community picnic and to celebrate Ealing's rich cinematic heritage.

A short distance away in Ealing Broadway St George is now restoring the original facade of the former 1930s Forum Theatre as part of its Filmworks development.

This regeneration project will provide a mix of private and affordable homes, alongside an eight-screen, 1,000+ seat Picturehouse cinema, the largest of its kind and a major new attraction for Ealing.

Filmworks will also include a new public piazza in the heart of the town centre surrounded by high-quality shops, restaurants and bars. The first shop to arrive will be Planet Organic - the UK's largest fully certified organic supermarket.

Filmwork's new buildings are being named after famous actors who once trod the boards at nearby Ealing Studios, the birthplace of British cinema. The recently launched Chapman House, which comprises 46 apartments, pays homage to Graham Chapman who filmed many Monty Python's sketches in Ealing.

Bogart House is named after American film and theatre legend Humphry Bogart, while Olivier House honours the great Lawrence Olivier, who dominated the British stage and screen throughout the mid-20th century.
