Philipp Hänggi to join the BKW Executive Board

New Head of Production

Bern, 29 August 2019

BKW AG has appointed Dr. Philipp Hänggi to the Executive Board effective 1 January 2020. The 50-year-old from Solothurn will be head of the Production division. This means that he will be responsible for BKW's entire production park. Philipp Hänggi is replacing Hermann Ineichen, who will be stepping down from the BKW Executive Board at the end of 2019.

BKW is pleased that it has been able to fill the position of Head of Production internally with a proven manager. Since joining BKW in 2014, Philipp Hänggi has been a member of the Production division management and has over 20 years' experience in the energy sector. In recent years, he has successfully driven the decommissioning of the Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant and made a significant contribution to other strategically relevant projects within BKW's international power plants. Prior to that, Philipp Hänggi held various positions at Alpiq and its founding company Atel.

In reference to his new role, Philipp Hänggi says: 'In recent years, BKW has successfully maintained its position while undergoing significant transformation, all in a challenging environment. In my new role, I look forward to contributing to the further development of the company and its position in the energy industry of the future.'

Philipp Hänggi holds a doctorate in physics from ETH Zurich and an executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen.
