BYD's vehicle sales continued to decline in June as the Chinese auto market wrestles with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sales fell 13% from a year earlier to 33,725 vehicles, the auto maker said late Tuesday. That was greater than a 6.2% drop in May, but a more moderate decline than a 16% fall in April and a 35% slump in March.

June sales of new-energy cars fell sharply to 14,165 vehicles from 26,571 a year earlier. Sales of conventional vehicles rose to 19,560 from 12,164.

BYD Co. said total sales for the January-June period fell 30% from a year earlier to 158,628 vehicles.
