July 11, 2019 - Shipments to and through New Orleans, LA are being impacted by the Flood Protection Authority's closure of flood gates due to Tropical Storm Barry. CN is working with interline partners to detour over alternate gateways where possible.

Precautionary actions are being taken to protect infrastructure, and rail equipment is being re-positioned away from the low lying areas. CN is working with customers located in the forecasted region to identify switching needs.

For Carload customers, an embargo has been issued for traffic inbound to the NOPB in an effort to try and mitigate surplus of traffic which would impact CN's local service. We are closely monitoring the situation and will advise of further adjustments.

For Intermodal customers, container and breakbulk terminals within the Port of New Orleans have ceased operations and will be closed Friday, July 12th due to the forecasted severe weather conditions. The tentative plan is for the port to resume operations on Monday, July 15th. We will continue to notify all our impacted customers with details of units in jeopardy due to port shut down.

For now our terminal operation at Mays yard remains open until further notice.

We are monitoring the situation very closely and customers affected will be contacted by their CN Service Delivery Representative as we move towards end of the week.
