From 9 January through to 16 February 2019, Carrefour stores throughout France will be supporting the 'Small Change' campaign, providing customers and employees with piggy banks at store checkouts for their donations. For this 30th edition, the campaign's sponsor is Didier Deschamps, manager of France's national football team.

A popular charity initiative in France
Over the past 30 years, the Small Change campaign has become a major charity initiative for people in France. The money raised is used to help fund facilities for parents and parent-child rooms in hospitals, improve the welcome and comfort that children and teenagers get when they are hospitalised and bring families closer to where their children are in hospital.

Since it was launched, the Small Change campaign has supported nearly 8780 projects in 464 towns; 692 centres and 1885 services have benefited from it.

Carrefour: long-time partner of the Small Change campaign
For the 18th year running, Carrefour is one of the Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France foundation's partners for the Small Change campaign, which is aiming this year to fund even more projects to improve the day-to-day living conditions of sick children and teenagers in hospitals. Since 2003, 140 tonnes of coins have been donated at our stores, totalling some €1,540,000.

This year, as in previous years, all Carrefour, Carrefour Market, Carrefour City, Carrefour Contact and Carrefour Express stores across France will be getting involved and actively supporting the fund-raising campaign: customers will be able to donate via 'Small Change' piggy banks at each checkout, as well as giant ones in hypermarkets. Altogether, more than 98,000 small piggy banks and 290 giant ones will be deployed in Carrefour stores throughout the country.

Carrefour - a retailer that's involved all year round
Carrefour is involved in numerous aid campaigns via its stores, providing support in the form of food donations, equipment or funding for many organisations in the charity sector. For many years now, Carrefour's teams have been getting involved in and investing in the charity sector, supporting numerous campaigns such as the Boucles du Cœur, Food Banks, the Secours populaire français, the Restos du Cœur and the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.
