SHANGHAI (AP) _ China Eastern Airlines Corp. (CEA) on Monday reported a first-quarter loss of $563.4 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Shanghai-based company said it had a loss of $1.72.

The airliner posted revenue of $2.21 billion in the period.

China Eastern shares have dropped 28% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 42% in the last 12 months.
