The China Fund, Inc. Increased Frequency of Shareholder Calls with the Investment Manager & May 28th Call-in Details Introduction to Change of Frequency of Calls

Given the recent change in the manager of the Fund and the evolution of the investment strategy more towards Mainland China listed companies, the Board of The China Fund Inc. in conjunction with the investment Manager, Matthews Asia, has determined that, for the year 2019, stockholder investment calls frequency will be increased from half yearly to quarterly. This will permit stockholders a better appreciation of the Manager's style, strategy and any change of emphasis in the portfolio.

In the next 12 months period we intend to hold investment calls with the Manager on:

  • Thursday May 28, 2019
  • Wednesday, September 4, 2019
  • Monday, December 9, 2019
  • Wednesday, February 26, 2020

Céline Colgan, Head of North American Institutional Business
Céline Colgan is Head of North American Institutional Business at Matthews Asia. She is responsible for leading the firm's North American business development strategy, client services and sales efforts with U.S. and Canadian institutions including endowments, foundations and public and corporate pensions. Prior to joining Matthews Asia in 2014, she served as Chief Business Officer of The Presidio Group's Outsourced Investment Office. Previously, she spent 15 years at Barclays Global Investors/BlackRock where she most recently was a Managing Director and team leader within the U.S. and Canada Institutional Client Group. Céline earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and Finance from the Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris, and is fluent in French.

Andrew Mattock, CFA, Portfolio Manager
Andrew Mattock is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews Asia and is responsible for managing the firm's China Strategy and The China Fund, Inc. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, he was a Fund Manager at Henderson Global Investors for 15 years, first in London and then in Singapore, managing Asia Pacific equities. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from ACU.

Winnie Chwang, Portfolio Manager
Winnie Chwang is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews Asia and co-manages the firm's China and Asia ESG Strategies. She joined the firm in 2004 and has built her investment career at the firm. Winnie earned an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business and received her B.A. in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. She is fluent in Mandarin and conversational in Cantonese.
