On Wednesday 12 December, the Colruyt store in Nivelles reopens after a few months of renovation work. We expanded the store, completely rearranged it and restyled it into a new-generation, low-energy Colruyt store. New butcher's department, expanded fresh market, larger Collect&Go pick-up point and 40 extra places on the car park.

Shop more efficiently

'The store is completely reorganised with a larger fresh market and car park', says store manager Benoit Limbourg 'It allows customers to shop even more efficiently and pleasantly. When making renovations, we always aim at simplicity and the lowest costs, as our customers expect of us.'

Collect&Go shops for the customer

The Collect&Go pick-up point is located on the store's roof. To serve even more customers, we doubled its surface. Benoit Limbourg: 'Collect&Go is a handy Colruyt Group service, where co-workers shop for the customers. They give us their shopping list online or by means of the app. The products are ready for them at the pick-up point by the day and time they chose.'

Butcher's department with open workshop

Customers can choose their fresh quality meat in the self-service butcher's department. They have a better overview of the range of meat products, cold cuts and salads. Head butcher Sébastien Decubber: 'Customers can see the butchers at work in an open workshop and talk to them if they have questions or a special order.'

Low-energy store

During the renovation work, Colruyt paid much attention to insulation, ventilation, lighting, refrigeration and heating. Benoit Limbourg: 'The refrigeration works on propane, a natural gas allowing us to reduce our CO2-emissions by 90%. We also recover the heat from the cooling system. This project is part of a more comprehensive renovation plan: by 2029, all Colruyt Group stores should be low-energy stores. The group's CO2-emissions have to go down by 4%.'

Special open house in the presence of minister De Bue

As from Wednesday 12 December, store manager Benoit Limbourg, head butcher Sébastien Decubber and their 42 co-workers will be on hand to welcome their customers in the renewed Colruyt Nivelles.
'The evening before, on Tuesday 11 December from 5 to 8 pm, everyone is invited for a store preview', says the store manager. 'During this special open evening, attended by mayor Valérie De Bue, we will gladly offer our customers a snack and a drink. Everyone is most welcome!'
