On May 4, 2019, nearly 6,000 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners will “make change happen” as they volunteer to improve nearly 100 project sites throughout Colorado as part of the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it is an illustration of the spirit of volunteerism that our employees bring to life each and every day. From using technology to create positive change, such as teaching digital literacy skills, to mentoring youth, to stocking food banks, to beautifying parks, Comcast NBCUniversal employees volunteer during this celebration and throughout the year to make a lasting impact. To date, more than 1 million Comcast Cares Day volunteers have contributed over 6 million service hours to improve local communities at more than 10,000 projects. This year, the Company expects more than 100,000 volunteers from Comcast, NBCUniversal, and for the first time Sky, to participate in projects across the country and around the world.

Colorado projects include clean-up projects in parks and schools around the state, maintenance projects for local Boys & Girls Clubs from Colorado Springs to Steamboat, and work to prepare Easterseals Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Village camp for summer programs available to more than 1,200 children and adults with disabilities in our state.

“As we celebrate our 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, we are delighted to partner with numerous communities and partners throughout our state to give back to our local communities across Colorado,” said Rich Jennings, Senior Vice President of the Comcast Mountain West Region. “It is incredible to see how we can drive meaningful change by bringing together our employees, their friends and families, and our community partners, both on this day and throughout the year. We are thankful for the participants and volunteers who continue to work to make a positive difference.”

“Each year, we look forward to Comcast Cares Day because of the support and hard work Comcast volunteers provide to our Aurora community,” said Tom Barrett, City of Aurora Parks, Recreation & Open Space Director. “Having over 500 volunteers working on three large-scale beautification and tree planting projects across Aurora is an incredible undertaking and we are fortunate for the dedication to the community that Comcast shares. Volunteers are crucial and their passion to dedicating time truly helps in ensuring we achieve our mission in encouraging active lifestyles and creating healthy environments for people, nature and community.”

Comcast Cares Day projects will take place in 18 communities across Colorado including:

Basalt
Boulder
Colorado Springs

The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation will also provide grants to local partner organizations on behalf of volunteers who contribute their time on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast’s partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.
