In recent weeks, Comcast NBCUniversal and Sky employees gathered their friends, family members, nonprofit partners, and community leaders to participate in Comcast Cares Day 2019, one of the largest corporate days of service globally, and a celebration of our company's year-round dedication to giving back.

This year's effort topped records in the 18-year history of this incredible Comcast tradition with more volunteers than ever. Around the world, 120,000-plus volunteers improved communities through 1,450 projects in 23 countries. The impact was felt through the many ways our volunteers give back - from adapting toys so they can be enjoyed by children with disabilities, to supporting U.S. veterans and their caretakers through social activities and serving meals, to cleaning up and gardening at local parks, to painting murals to help beautify schools, to removing litter from the Great Wall of China to improve the environment.

'Year after year, I continue to be inspired and impressed by the tremendous enthusiasm and dedication our employees have for giving back to their communities,' said David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, Comcast Corporation. 'Comcast Cares Day illustrates the positive impact that we can make on the world around us by coming together to celebrate volunteerism with our friends, families, and local partners and leaders.'

Through the extraordinary work and passion of thousands of our employees participating in environmentally-friendly service projects, we're thrilled to announce that we have surpassed our goal to reach 500,000 green volunteer hours in 2019, a year ahead of our 2020 deadline. This is a significant milestone that reflects the company's commitment to sustainability and the value our employees place on making a positive impact on the planet.

Our rich tradition of giving back through service began as part of Philadelphia Cares Day in 1996 when 200 of our employees joined in our hometown's annual volunteer program to clean playgrounds and schools. We are both amazed and inspired by the evolution of Comcast Cares Day into a global volunteer effort that has included well over 1 million volunteers across 23 countries. Some of the newest participants in this company tradition include our colleagues at Sky. Together, we bring to life our firm belief in giving back to the communities that we serve.
