The following are disruptions and subsequent restarts of copper operations and projects due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Analysts at Refinitiv have cut their forecast for global copper mine output in 2020 by 2.4% to 19.6 million tonnes. Last year, mine production was 20.36 million tonnes.

* May 12 - Zambia temporarily shuts its border withTanzania, delaying main copper exports via Dar es Salaam. * May 7 - The world's largest copper miner, Chile's Codelco, said it was maintaining production and shipments according toits 2020 plan despite coronavirus disruption. * May 7 - Miners in the world's No. 2 copper producingcountry Peru are set to restart operations in the coming daysand ramp up to around 80% of normal production levels within amonth. * April 30 - Glencore cuts full year production guidance forcopper to 1.25 million tonnes from a previous 1.3 million. * April 29 - Top copper producer Chile says its industrysees minimal impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, expects annualoutput to fall by only 1%. * April 29 - Lundin Mining cuts 2020 copper productionguidance to 264,000-293,000 tonnes from 272,000-296,000 tonnes.https://bit.ly/3cVnpMS * April 27 - Freeport-McMoRan's El Abra copper mine in Chileto scale back processing of copper ore by 40% to 65,000 tonnes aday. * April 29/23 - China's MMG Ltd says resuming transport ofconcentrate from Las Bambas mine in Peru to the port.Previously, MMG confirmed force majeure at the mine, whereoutput for the three months ended March 31 slipped 28%year-on-year to 73,319 tonnes. * April 22 - Antofagasta's annual copper production is nowexpected to be at the lower end of its range of 725,000-755,000tonnes. Earlier, it suspended its Los Pelambres Expansionproject in Chile for about 120 days. * April 20 - Glencore to reverse its earlier decision toshutter its Zambia subsidiary Mopani Copper Mines if it reachesan agreement with the government. * April 17 - Rio Tinto cuts 2020 guidance for mined copperto 475,000-520,000 tonnes from 530,000-570,000 tonnes. * April 17 - Vale SA cuts 2020 production forecast forcopper to 360,000-380,000 tonnes from 400,000 tonnes. * April 16 - Underground development progress at the OyuTolgoi copper-gold mine in Mongolia has been impacted due toCOVID-19. The mine previously had beencontinuing with essential work in production and maintenance. Itproduced 443,100 tonnes in 2019. * April 13 - Freeport-McMoRan suspends operations at itsChino copper mine in New Mexico, which produced 175 millionpounds (79,378 tonnes) of copper in 2019. * April 13 - Freeport also said its Cerro Verde mine in Peruwas conducting limited operations, with the concentratoroperating at one-third of planned rates in early April. It produced 234,500tonnes of copper in 2019. * March 30 - China's Henan Yuguang Gold & Lead will put its150,000 tonnes of annual copper smelting capacity on maintenancefor around 20 days in April, two company sources say. * March 25 - Codelco, suspends construction of some projectsfor 15 days, including underground work at Chuquicamata mine,but said there was no impact on output. * March 24 - First Quantum Minerals Ltd says production atits Cobre Panama copper mine would ramp up at aslower-than-expected pace, but output still expected at 285,000to 310,000 tonnes in 2020. * March 24 - JX Nippon Mining & Metal cuts its operation atCaserones copper mine in Chile by 40%. Average annual output ofcopper in concentrates is 150,000 tonnes. * March 23 - China Molybdenum places TFM mine, the largestcopper mine in Democratic Republic of Congo, in isolation ascountry imposes a two-day lockdown. TFM produced 177,956 tonnesof copper in 2019. * March 23 - Sprott Resource Holdings temporarily haltsmajority of mining operations at Minera Tres Valles in Chile. https://bit.ly/2vPQr0G * March 22 - Mirador Copper mine in Ecuador scales backoperations. It was due to launch in H2 2021 and produceabout 316,000 tonnes a year. * March 17 - Vale SA reduces activity and output at itsVoisey's Bay copper mine in Canada, which produced 25,000 tonnesin 2019, placing it on care and maintenance for four weeks. * March 10 - Canada's Copper Mountain Mining cuts miningrate by about 25% for remainder of 2020.
